Claudia. A. Serna is a Dentist from Colombia, South America, a Licensed Dental Hygienist in the State of Florida, a Certified Orthodontic Assistant in the US, and a Certified Health Education Specialist. She also holds a Master’s Degree of Public Health with Specialization in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Health at Florida International University (FIU).
Claudia has worked in the Dental Field in the private and public practice in Colombia, as well as in the US. While pursuing her Master’s Degree, she worked as a Graduate Assistant for the AIDS prevention program at FIU, and as a Research Assistant for the Grant “HIV Risk Reduction in High Risk Hispanic Migrant Workers in South Florida”, funded by the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities. After graduating with her MPH, she took the job as a Research Coordinator for the Hispanic Migrant Workers HIV Prevention Program at the Center for Research on U.S. Latino HIV / AIDS and Drug Abuse (CRUSADA). She is currently working as a Research Coordinator for the Beyond Sabor Grant funded by NIH at the Robert Stemplel College of Public Health & Social Work at FIU, and as an Oral Health Consultant for the Florida Public Health Institute where she is in charge of the social media platforms (Facebook and Twitter). She is also part of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry Communication Committee where she manages the Facebook and Twitter pages of the association. In addition, she is the social media coordinator and web master of the American Public Health Association Oral Health section.
